MBI Yud-Zayin (2008) marks the seventeenth year that Habonim Dror will be sending post-tenth graders to Israel. This summer you have the opportunity to participate in an amazing Israel program, which will provide you with memories and lasting ties to Israel and your national kvutsah (group) for the rest of your life. Filling out the applicationis the first step towards becoming an MBI participant.

The goals of MBI are that participants will:

  • Strengthen their connection to Israel
  • Understand the connection of Zionism to the movement’s values
  • Gain a sense of machaneh community
  • Develop a sense of National Shichva and the nature of the National & International Movement
  • Gain insight into the complexities of Israeli society and the challenges of coexistence
  • See the role of the Youth movements in Israel in the creation of the state and their role today
  • Gain an understanding of Jewish history, heritage, and culture in Israel’s past and today
  • Strengthen their overall involvement in the movement
  • Gain an understanding of Habonim Dror’s history in Israel
  • Take part in a Tikkun Olam/Volunteer experience
  • Gain an understanding of the history and future of the Kibbutz Movement.

MBI is not just another teen tour. It is a program with specific goals and expectations for its participants. While MBI is open to post-tenth graders who have not been involved in Habonim Dror before, participants
are expected to be involved in the movement after the summer is over.

To understand a little more about the program, feel free to peruse a sample itinerary from last year. Each year is slightly different as we continue to improve the program, but this should give you a good idea of what sorts of sights are seen and what sorts of activities are done.

Application Process: This year our MBI application is available in two formats.

  • Online Application

  • The first is an online application that is a pre-registration and is the first part of the application process. If you complete the online portion you will only need to complete a shortened version of the application which will be emailed to you and is also available here to download.

    Online Application
    Online Application Supplement

  • Paper Application
  • The second way is to download the full application and then fill it out and send it back to our office. We encourage you consider filling out the online portion as both a way to save some paper, increase our efficiency, and improve the accuracy of our database.

    Full Paper Application

Also available here is the Habonim Dror Scholarship Application, which you can download and mail in by February 29th, 2008 to be considered.
